Play Reading

August 29th starting at 4pm Central.

An online reading celebrating the culmination of work of the students in our summer playwriting intensive.

Each student in the intensive wrote a short play. At this public reading each play will be read by actors from the Twin Cities and around the country.

To reserve your spot, click here and enter your name and email. There is no cost to attend this reading, but donations to support Uprising’s education programs and scholarships for students who need them, will be gladly accepted.

The Playwrights:

Jude Gepp (they/them)

Jude is a genderfluid freshman, aged 14. They are studying LGBTQ+ topics, racial issues, and feminism. After being accepted into Biomedical Academy, they plan to work in the medical field and later become a teacher, all the while being an activist for whatever they believe needs it. :star2:

Seth Coppens (he/they)

A rising sophomore in Cincinnati, Ohio, Seth majors in creative writing at the School for Creative and Performing Arts. He is currently working on building a platform called “trans(pro)gression”, which will exist and work to center and celebrate transgender voices — keep an eye out on Instagram for it! He hopes to use all of his resources and talents to uplift and amplify trans voices both like and unlike his own.

Remus Hildegard Nikolai Huber (they/them)

Remus is a 16 year old enby with autism, and is currently attending Avalon school of Watch-craft and Mycology. They are a maker who got their start within the community of puppeteers they were raised in, and is currently inspired by their mentors Elle Thoni and Elizabeth Brown, and many amazing family and friends. Including Frith, for whom one of their characters is named.

The Princess And The Pan” by Jude Gepp

Sage, a princess, struggles to tell anyone of her love for a guard outside her room. Her cousin Jacob and friend Strawberry have to try to help pair them up. :heartpulse:

“Transcription” by Seth Coppens (he/they)

How have trans stories been told a hundred years ago versus now? In Transcription, the stories of three modern-day trans teens intersect with a trans person’s from over a hundred years ago, and together they uplift each other’s voices and experiences.
